The Foundation for the Renovation of the Barracks of the Papal Swiss Guard in the Vatican was establishedin Solothurn in autumn 2016. Its sole objectiveis the renewal of the barracks buildings and the other infrastructure facilities of the Guard. The Foundation reports to the supervisory authorities of the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Solothurn. With its public and charitable purpose, its status as a tax-exempt foundation is recognized. Once its objective has been achieved (or in the event of termination of the project), the Foundation for the Renovation of the Guards Barracks will be dissolved and its capital will be transferred to the Foundation of the Papal Swiss Guard.
